What's Up! I'm Caitlin.

I grew up oceanside, in a small coastal town in South Carolina. When I graduated from the University of South Carolina (with a Bachelor's of Science in Public Health - yay nutrition!), I got my personal training certification. But in the end, I decided the gym wasn't where I was meant to be.

So I picked up stakes and moved a few hours north to Asheville, North Carolina, where I could enjoy the outdoors to my heart's content. And to tell you the truth, I've never felt happier or more at home.

When I was a kid, my grandpa had a morning ritual. He would drag my brother and I out of bed (much earlier in the morning than we would have liked), and take us to breakfast. After our meal, usually at some questionable hole-in-the-wall diner, we would get back in the car - but not to drive home.

Instead, my grandpa would cruise down the street with no real destination in mind. In the backseat of his truck, grumpy from being shaken awake at the crack of dawn and wishing we could go back to bed, my brother and I would ask "where are we going?"

Completely unfazed by the fact that he had two unwilling participants in his adventure in the backseat, my grandpa would smile and proudly say, "Out there!"

We would eventually end up at a park or shop and by the time we got there, my brother and I had woken up and were ready to play along. I didn't realize at the time that those would one day be some of my fondest childhood memories.

So, in the spirit of enjoying the day (and a good breakfast) to the fullest, I created Out There Asheville, where I can share all of my adventures in the hope that it inspires you to get 'out there' as often as you can too.

See ya out there!
